We all want our life to be of some purpose… of some worth. As Muslims our purpose is to ultimately worship Allah.
I only created jinn and man to worship Me. (Surat adh-Dhariyat, 56)
However I have always wondered what does that really mean? Does it mean to follow every aspect of my religion and am I able to fully do that? It seems daunting and complicated. Looking within myself I want to belong and find self worth, which is a very basic human need. I know deep rooted in my heart that worshipping Him (Allah) is where I will find Sakinah.
I was reading this blog called “Step Baba” about a man who married a woman with a child and gave her the best example of a man. All of a sudden something I knew before but became clear was that the ‘secret’ behind worshipping Allah is that it involves loving and being kind to others. There is great psychology and wisdom in this and that is that it makes YOU happy because you feel you are worth something! Worthy enough, valued enough to give to others. SubhanaAllah this is the Rahmah (kindness) of our LORD, if only we understood!
When Allah created creation He wrote with Him above His Throne:
Verily My mercy precedeth My wrath (Bukhari – Chapter 22)
Also this is the ‘greatest realization’ which is to find your purpose you don’t have to win a Nobel peace prize or have a Phd or have tons of money to give away, it can just be a SIMPLE ACT! We often forget that our greatest treasures lie ‘within ourselves’ in the forms of kindness, courage, truthfulness, compassion etc.
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” Pablo Picasso
Sometimes we make things heavy for us, when it’s quite simple and light! Through my work as a Psychotherapist I have found my purpose, which is to make people conscious of the unconscious within themselves.
Have you found your purpose in Life yet?
